About Our Pastor

        Richard Barcus is a dynamic, spirit-filled, and straight forward preacher whose desire it is to see personal growth in his congregation and especially to see souls saved.  The most important qualification he possesses is his personal walk with the Lord and his faithfulness to our church since he was saved as a boy of twelve.  In these days of moral relativism and crumbling values, he stands upon the Rock, our solid foundation, and preaches the Word of God.  We are proud to have a full time pastor who is dedicated to ministering to the church and the community.

       Pastor Rick has held almost every office in the church at one time or another.  He has been a Sunday School teacher, usher, deacon, trustee, and a youth leader, to name a few.  God called him to preach in November of 1985.  He was ordained by the Harmony Quarterly Conference of Freewill Baptist Churches in 1987 and was elected pastor of our church in that same year.  He serves on the Executive Board of our conference at this time.  Pastor Barcus attended college at the University of Rio Grande and was graduated with a Bachelors Degree with honors.  He is also a trained counselor through the American Academy of Christian Counsellors.  As for community ministry, he presently travels with the New City Singers and is a Volunteer Chaplain at the Holzer Medical Center.

       He is married to the love of his life Debbie, who is an incredible preacher's wife.  She leads the choir, teaches Sunday School, and is a great light in our congregation.   Finally, we cannot fail to mention that Richard is the grandfather of  two granddaughters. Our pastor currently resides in Gallipolis, Ohio.  He is more that willing to meet with anyone with an interest in our church and he can be contacted Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. until noon at the church to schedule an appointment.
